DESCRIPTION:MICHIGAN TECH ART SERIES EVENT\n\nNeoliberal Loops is a body o
f work created by Emma C. Johnson that explores neoliberalism\, postfemini
sm\, economic precarity\, and how our understanding of these phenomena are
mediated through visual culture. Her work is concerned with mundane and i
diosyncratic details that are telling of a larger picture of the world. Sh
 e works primarily in painting\, printmaking\, photography\, video\, sound\
, and text. Whatever medium the idea demands is what determines the materi
ality of the finished work. \n\nThe Neoliberal Loops project features thre
e related works on the theme of financial crisis. This includes music/soun
 d and digital video\, photography\, text on a moving LED lights screen\, a
nd letterpress on paper. This exhibition is an opportunity to reflect on c
apitalism\, representation\, and feminism\, and grapple with this material
in a visceral way. Emma invites viewers to reflect on neoliberalism\, whi
ch often seems as natural as the air we breathe. This opens up a dialog ab
out how representations of neoliberalism shapes our understanding of it an
d how we might approach our understanding of it and other possibilities fo
 r living differently. This project brings Emma's writing\, art\, music\, a
nd theoretical background together when these areas are typically compartm
entalized.\n\nThis exhibition was also an opportunity for Emma to receive
guidance from Michigan Technological University’s Math and Music Lab (MM
 L) co-directors Robert Schnieder and Michael Maxwell. Combining math\, vis
ual and performing arts\, and the humanities opens up possibilities. Emma'
s time at MTU was a unique opportunity to combine disciplines to culminate
in an interdisciplinary project.\n\nThings to know\n\nEXHIBIT DATES | Sep

DESCRIPTION:Dr. Yan Wang is a propulsion technology expert with more than
25 years of experience advancing sustainable transportation throughinnovat
ive energy and powertrain technologies. Throughout his career at Ford Moto
r Company\, Nikola Motor Company\, and Cummins\, he hasled the development
of advanced propulsion solutions across gasoline\, diesel\, hybrid\, batt
 ery-electric\, and fuel-cell-electric vehicle platforms. Dr.Wang's experti
se spans combustion systems\, electrified powertrains\, controls\, calibra
 tion\, diagnostics\, optimization\, and intelligent energymanagement. He h
as developed model-based and data-driven engineering approaches that integ
rate machine learning\, virtual development\,and connected vehicle technol
ogies to improve vehicle efficiency\, emissions performance\, reliability\
, and development productivity. An inventor ofmore than 50 U.S. patents an
d author of over 60 technical publications\, Dr. Wang is Chair of the IEEE
Control Systems Society TechnicalCommittee on Automotive Control for Elec
tric and Hybrid Vehicles. His work continues to focus on enabling sustaina
ble\, efficient\, and intelligenttransportation systems through the conver
 gence of advanced controls\, electrification\, artificial intelligence\, c
onnectivity\, and digital engineering.\n\nIntersection of model based powe
rtrain controls with AI / ML\n\nTraditional model-based powertrain control
systems have been the foundation of vehicle operation for decades\, evolv
ing continuouslyto deliver safe\, efficient\, and comfortable transportati
on. As powertrain architectures become increasingly complex and regulatory
requirementscontinue to tighten\, however\, achieving globally optimal co
ntrol for maximum efficiency using conventional approaches has become incr
easinglychallenging. While AI/ML has seen widespread deployment in percept
ion-intensive applications such as advanced driver assistance systems(ADAS
) and automated driving\, its adoption in production powertrain control ha
s been more selective. This presentation explores how AI/ML cancomplement
—not replace—established model-based control frameworks to enhance pow
ertrain performance. We will discuss practicalapplications in offline cali
bration\, online adaptive control\, and digital twin development\, highlig
hting how AI/ML can improve efficiency\,robustness\, and scalability while
leveraging decades of existing control expertise.

DESCRIPTION:Join us every week in Fisher 132 for worship\, solid Bible tea
ching\, and open discussion. \n\nThese gatherings focus on helping student
s grow in their knowledge of God\, learn what it means to follow Christ in
everyday life\, and build authentic Christian community. We dig into Scri
pture carefully\, address real questions\, and encourage one another towar
 d faithful living. \n\nAll students are welcome—whether you’re explori
ng Christianity for the first time\, looking for deeper study\, or simply
want a place to connect with other believers. No prior knowledge or denomi
national background is required. \n\nCome hang out\, learn\, and grow with
us. Pizza or snacks often follow the meeting.
