The first UC Master Preserver Program started in 1982. Since these humble begi nnings\, programs are now thriving in many counties across the state of Ca lifornia. \n1982 – The first UC Cooperative Extension county-based Mast er Food Preserver Program started in Riverside County\, San Bernardino Cou nty soon followed. \n2011 – The first UC MFP OC class was trained in 20 11. Each Orange County (OC) Master Food Preserver (MFP) is a resident of O range County\, a volunteer who has been formally educated in food preserva tion/food safety and is certified by the UC cooperative extension (UCCE).
