 : \nFor more than 40 years\, UC Master Food Preserver volunteers have shar
 ed research-based home food preservation information with the public. The 
 first UC Master Preserver Program started in 1982. Since these humble begi
 nnings\, programs are now thriving in many counties across the state of Ca
 lifornia. \n1982 – The first UC Cooperative Extension county-based Mast
 er Food Preserver Program started in Riverside County\, San Bernardino Cou
 nty soon followed. \n2011 – The first UC MFP OC class was trained in 20
 11. Each Orange County (OC) Master Food Preserver (MFP) is a resident of O
 range County\, a volunteer who has been formally educated in food preserva
 tion/food safety and is certified by the UC cooperative extension (UCCE). 
 In return\, each MFP commits to a working predefined number of volunteer h
 ours and continuing education hours each year. \n2014 – Officially reco
 gnized as a statewide program under UC Division of Agriculture and Natural
