DESCRIPTION:On the 100th anniversary of Route 66 in 2026\, experience “T
he Old Road”—a mural that at once remembers the first major highway tr
aversing the United States and gives emphasis to its impact on Pueblo comm
unities and New Mexico. Through the eyes of artists Warren Montoya (Pueblo
 s of Santa Ana/Santa Clara)\, Margarita Paz-Pedro (Pueblo of Laguna/Mexica
n American)\, Akilah Martinez (Diné)\, and Keith Scott (Pueblo of Laguna)
\, this multi-dimensional installation travels through time showing Pueblo
people and places along the “Mother Road\,” otherwise known as Route
 66. Explore the eccentric narrative created by these artists as they look
at multiple roads simultaneously\, from ancestral times to recent history\
, to glimpses of the present and future. Already a historic exchange route
within Indigenous communities\, Route 66 still echoes in the personality
and culture of New Mexico byways. Journey through this mural located in th
e Art Through Struggle Gallery at the end of the IPCC’s permanent exhibi
tion. \nImage: Keith Scott\, Laguna Pueblo Water Tower\, 2023\, digital ph

DESCRIPTION:Matthew McConville and Olivia Munroe \nBeyond the Looking Glas
 s \nOctober 23–December 6 \nReception: Saturday\, November 8\, 6–8 pm
with 516 ARTS \nRichard Levy Gallery is pleased to present Beyond the Look
ing Glass\, a selection of artworks by Matthew McConville and Olivia Munro
 e. This immersive exhibition invites viewers to encounter the extraordinar
y through imaginative\, otherworldly imagery rooted in both nature and abs
traction. \nMatthew McConville’s new paintings continue his series Flowe
rs for the Anthropocene of exquisitely detailed fantastical botanical arra
ngements. The artist draws from traditional flower painting\, scientific i
llustration\, science fiction\, and elements of chance. McConville explore
s themes of biodiversity\, genetic modification\, and extinction by sugges
ting speculative futures shaped by both science and ecological collapse. A
t the core of McConville’s work is an interest in coevolution\, emphasiz
ing the reciprocal relationships between plants and pollinators. \nMcConvi
lle’s work has been exhibited nationally\, including at the Baltimore Mu
seum of Art\, Des Moines Art Center\, Iowa\, Minnesota Museum of American
Art\, and Florida Atlantic University and is included in numerous collecti
 ons\, such as 21c Museum Hotel Collection\, Johns Hopkins Hospital\, and t
he Weisman Museum of Art. McConville currently lives and works in Baldwin\
, MD. \nWorking with ink and dye on fabric\, Olivia Munroe creates complex
meditative compositions using layers of drawing\, stamping\, and tracing.
Her intricate circular patterns evoke both microscopic biological structu
res and expansive celestial formations. Munroe explores repetition as a pa
th to spirituality and is inspired by the circle as symbolic of universali
ty and interconnectedness. Her work reflects an enduring interest in texti
le traditions\, abstraction\, and sacred geometry. \nOver the past four de
cades\, Munroe’s work has been exhibited internationally at Annely Juda
 Gallery\, London\; Hong Kong Arts Center\; and Sundaram Tagore Gallery\, N
ew York. Her work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museu
m of Art\, Smithsonian Institution\, Portland Museum of Art\, and the New
York Public Library\, among others. The artist currently lives and works i
 n Albuquerque. \nFollow us on Instagram\, Facebook\, and YouTube: @levygal
