DESCRIPTION:Richard Levy Gallery is pleased to present Particle and the Wa
ve: Oracles and Symbols for Living and Dying\, a solo show by Alex Ponca S
tock. \nParticle and the Wave features eight abstract artworks that explor
e the conjunction of modern technological and scientific knowledge with th
e ancient knowledge handed down from our ancestors. Using the traditional
beaded broadcloth found in Osage regalia\, Alex Ponca Stock considers a br
oad array of modern and historical references\, including color field pain
ting\, early Christian heresies\, ancient mound-builders\, and quantum phy
sics. The result of her experimentation with larger-scale work\, this exhi
bition is a mature showcase of Ponca Stock’s ability to visually dissect
the currents of 21st century life. \nPonca Stock’s practice combines in
tensive research with the slow\, meditative labor of beading to create obj
ects with a strong sense of internal order. The composition of her soft te
xtile works are often reminiscent of the aesthetic of technology—motherb
oards\, logic gates\, 3D renderings—without ever betraying the beauty an
d integrity of the medium. In her choice of color\, Ponca Stock is highly
attuned not only to the symbolic and emotional power of color\, but its ph
ysiological effect. \nAlex Ponca Stock (b. 1986) is a painter and beadwork
er from the Gray Horse District of the Osage Nation and the third generati
on in her family to graduate from the Kansas City Art Institute. Her work
has been exhibited by the Denver Art Museum\, the First Americans Museum\,
and the Osage Nation Museum\, among others. The artist currently lives an
 d works in Santa Fe\, NM. \nExhibition Dates: August 26–October 17\, 202
 6\nReception: Friday\, October 2\, 6–8pm\nGallery Hours: Wednesday–Sat
 urday\, 11 am–4 pm or by appointment\nLocation: 514 Central Avenue SW\,

n At United Way of North Central New Mexico\, our mission is drive
n by local action that creates lasting impact. In 2025\, United Way Worldw
ide selected UWNCNM to be featured as part of a national storytelling and
photography project. This initiative highlighted how local United Ways res
pond to urgent challenges while building long term solutions for their com
munities. The national feature showcased our ability to mobilize volunteer
 s\, workplaces\, nonprofit partners\, and community members. Together\, we
address immediate needs while strengthening overall community resilience.
  								\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Highlighted Impa
ct Across Our Region \n \n \n \n The national project
spotlighted several key efforts across central New Mexico: Emergency Respo
nse During Crisis: During the federal government shutdown\, UWNCNM organiz
ed 15 workplace food drives as part of the 2025 Day of Caring. Thanks to g
enerous local partners\, we collected over 3\,200 pounds of nonperishable
food for eight nonprofit partners. Shining a Light on ALICE: The project f
eatured our ongoing ALICE work\, helping community members better understa
nd the difficult financial choices working households navigate every day.
Dignity Through Local Solutions: The feature highlighted a community led f
ood station in Santa Fe providing free\, 24/7 access to food and essential
items. This neighborhood resource shows how local partnerships and volunt
eers create dignity and stability for families experiencing hardship.
 				\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 2026 Day of Carin
g: Supporting Students Through Community ActionAs United Way continues to
advance Youth Opportunity across our region\, this year’s Day of Caring\
, taking place on August 8\, 2026\, will evolve to support Academies of Al
buquerque schools through projects identified directly by school leadershi
 p. In addition to career exploration and workforce readiness opportunities
\, future Day of Caring projects will support: Supporting student resource

a free poker night in Albuquerque built for everyone\, whether you have n
ever held a hand of cards or you are sharpening your tournament game. \nLe
arn to play\, or hone your skills\nPoker Lab is a poker learning center an
d community\, not a casino. USA Poker Academy coaches teach you Texas Hold
’em as you play\, in a relaxed\, beginner-friendly room. Come to learn t
he rules from scratch\, or sit down to fine-tune your reads and your range
before the next big tournament. Either way you play real hands with real
people\, and you leave a better player than you walked in. \nWhat to expec
t at the table\nThe room runs on coaching and good energy. Tables mix firs
t-timers with regulars\, the pace is friendly\, and nobody is going to mak
e you feel out of place for asking how a hand works. You will get hands-on
instruction on strategy\, position\, and reading the table\, all while yo
u play. It is the easiest way in Albuquerque to go from curious to confide
nt at a poker table. \nThe Card Room in The Lobo Sports Vault\nThursday ni
ghts are card nights at the Lobo. The Card Room in The Lobo Sports Vault i
s the home for Poker Lab\, with food and drink specials every Thursday. It
is the easy midweek escape: low key\, social\, and always free to play. P
ull up a seat\, order from the full bar\, and settle in for the night. \nP

one of Albuquerque’s fastest-growing poker communities. Come to meet lo
cal players\, build your game\, and find your regular table. The more Thur
sdays you stack up\, the more the room starts to feel like yours. \nNew to
poker? Start here\nYou do not need to know anything about poker to walk i
n on a Thursday. Poker Lab was built for beginners as much as for experien
ced players. The coaches start with the basics of Texas Hold’em\, hand r
ankings\, betting\, and table etiquette\, then let you put it into practic
e at a low-pressure table. By the end of the night you will understand how
the game flows\, and you will have played real hands to lock it in. Bring
a friend who has always wanted to learn\, or come solo and meet the regul
ars. \nA weekly tradition in Nob Hill\nPoker Lab has grown into one of the
steadiest weeknight traditions at the Historic Lobo Theater. Every Thursd
ay the tables fill with a mix of curious first-timers and sharp regulars\,
all drawn by the same simple promise: free poker\, real coaching\, and a
welcoming room. There is no pressure to be good\, no money on the line\, a
nd no reason not to pull up a chair. The USA Poker Academy coaches keep th
e night moving\, answer questions as you play\, and make sure everyone has
a seat. Whether you come every week or drop in when you can\, Poker Lab i
s an easy and free way to spend a Thursday night in Albuquerque\, learn a
classic game\, and meet the people who make up the local poker community.
\nKnow before you go\nPoker Lab runs every Thursday starting at 6:30 PM. I
t is 21 and over only\, and a valid government-issued photo ID is required
. Admission is always free\, with no buy-in and nothing to purchase to pla
 y. Just show up ready to learn or compete. No outside food\, drinks\, or w
ater bottles\; food and a full bar are available for purchase. \nPlan your
night\nThe Historic Lobo Theater is at 3013 Central Ave NE in Nob Hill\,
on historic Route 66. Street parking is available along Central and the ne
arby side streets\, and the full bar and food specials are open all night.
Bring a friend\, bring your game face\, and make Thursday your weekly fre
e poker night in Albuquerque. Play starts at 6:30 PM on Thursday\, Septemb
