DESCRIPTION:Break and paint your own bowl with gold using the ancient Japa
nese technique of Kintsugi. \n\n\n\n\nKintsugi is the Japanese art of repa
iring broken pottery. If a bowl is broken\, rather than discarding the pie
ces\, the fragments are put back and the cracks are adorned with gold. The
re are no attempts to hide the damage\, instead\, it is highlighted. The p
ractice has come to represent the idea that beauty can be found in imperfe
ction. The breakage is an opportunity and applying this kind of thinking t
o instances of failure in our own lives can be helpful. \nJoin Shaker Her
itage Society and hvkintsugi in this crowd favorite! This is our last
Kintsugi workshop of 2026! This workshop will be led by local Art Therapi
st Tara DeLuca. \nDuring the workshop you will connect with your bowl\, br
eak it\, confront the damage and take ownership of the pieces that remain
by glueing them back together. \nThe bowl will be changed forever\, just a
s each person is through their own personal experiences. \nThis is a calmi
ng\, shared experience. It is an excellent way to participate in self care
. \n“Instead of masking the flaws\, a Japanese way of seeing things is t
hat by highlighting the cracks\, the piece becomes stronger\, more beautif
ul\, and easier to use.” \nAll materials are included! \nYou may bring o
ne piece of broken pottery to use in the workshop\, but we ask that you pa
rticipate in the breaking and painting of the supplied bowl. \nRegister on

DESCRIPTION:Get ready to bring tansy to life with colored pencils in this
chill\, hands-on botanical art session. \n\n\n\n\nTansy is a perennial pla
nt that has yellow/gold button flowers with fern-like leaves. It is said t
o mean “immortality and resistance”. The Shakers used the perennial Ta
nsy as an insect repellent and for natural medicine. \nIn this 2 1/2-hour
class students will learn the history and process of Botanical Drawing. It
begins with gradual toning of simple geometric shapes that will turn into
all the forms in nature. This process will make your piece three dimensio
nal and pop off the page. We will begin our forms by layering neutral tone
s and putting on top color with colored pencils. By the end of class parti
cipants will have created their very own Tansy. \nPlease register online a
